28th September of every year is celebrated as World Rabies Day. The day was setup in the year 2007.
Every year, on an average 59,000 people dies due to rabies in the world, among which 90% of deaths occurs in children living in the rural areas of Africa and Asia. In India, the death ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 every year.
